10 Best British Wrestling Matches Of 2016

1. Marty Scurll Vs. Will Ospreay (RevPro High Stakes)

RevPro's High Stakes 2016 set British wrestling's year off to a tremendous start in January. Headlined by a great title British Heavyweight Title match between Zack Sabre Jr. and some guy named AJ Styles, it was a monstrous show from top to bottom, and it was highlighted by two wrestlers who know each other very well indeed.

Will Ospreay and Marty Scurll will likely be putting on great matches together for the rest of their careers. They have incredible chemistry on the independents, and now that they're both under Ring Of Honor contract, the feud is about to reach a whole new audience. This, however, was their finest hour, and quite possibly the best match in RevPro history.

Ospreay and Scurll worked for close to 30 minutes, and at no point did the match start to drag. On the contrary, the duo worked the "epic match" format to perfection, and the York Hall crowd were split 50/50 in their support, and the match came with a great story. Scurll blamed Ospreay for the loss of his British Championship to Styles a few months prior, and he was fuming. Scurll was out for redemption, but as he was about to find out, it wouldn't come easy.

Ospreay was in top form with his dives and corkscrews, and the duo seemingly threw every move in their sizeable arsenals at each other. From Scurll's theatrics and raw viciousness to Ospreay's incredible acrobatics, this match had absolutely everything, and if you go out of your way to watch just one British wrestling match from 2016, this should be it.
