During the early summer of 2012, AJ Lee had been interfering in many of Daniel Bryan's matches. Whether that be skipping around the ring, smooching with other superstars or gazing lovingly into his eyes; Daniel Bryan had had enough! On the 29th of June edition of Smackdown, Bryan decided to repay the favour and distract AJ, causing her to lose to Layla and giving her a taste of her own crazy medicine. After the match, Bryan - who by this point was a whiny heel character - revealed he was going to hold Smackdown hostage until Smackdown General Manager, Vickie Guerrero came out to speak to him about his upcoming title shot against CM Punk at Money In The Bank. Before Vickie came out to scream those words every fan adores, 'Excuse Me!', Bryan began to hold the show hostage by repeating his 'Yes!' catchphrase. AJ - always on the look out for attention - decided to try and steal Bryan's spotlight by mimicking his catchphrase and gestures. The two stood face-to-face, trading Yes! chants as the crowd lapped it up. The amusing battle even lasted throughout the commercial break and only ended when the cougar GM finally made an appearance. As Daniel tried to flatter Vickie into an alliance, she revealed that at the PPV, AJ Lee would be the special guest referee in the title match, as voted for by the WWE Universe. Suitably shocked, Bryan couldn't even move as AJ and the crowd began another Yes! chant; it was only after a minute or so, that Bryan came back to reality and started an opposing No! chant. The crowd were having none of it and Bryan stormed off like a little child that's not allowed to stay up past their bed time.
