10 Best Daniel Bryan Vs. Samoa Joe Matches To Watch Before WWE SmackDown

2. Irresistible Forces - 28 October 2006

Daniel Bryan Samoa Joe
ROH Wrestling

On 28 October 2006, the two men met in their second one-on-one contest in a thrilling match at ROH’s Irresistible Forces. While the first and third contests of their trilogy proved superior, this bout was nothing to scoff at. Forgoing their technical prowesses, this match saw Joe and Bryan battle in an all-out brawl of a No Disqualification contest. Using weapons, illegal tactics, and any offense they could muster, the two ROH legends beat each other mercilessly.

Unlike their first match, which ended in a time limit draw, Daniel’s ROH title was not on the line - a fact that ended up being to the champion’s favor. Joe seemed utterly dominant at times during the contest, but the fire never went out inside the tenacious American Dragon. By the time the chaos and destruction had subsided, Samoa Joe had defeated Daniel Bryan, but due to the non-title stipulation, Bryan still walked away as champion. However, Joe’s victory over the reigning champ meant that a third contest was inevitable.
