10 Best Ever TNA Knockouts
3. Angelina Love
Yes, it’s a Beautiful People trifecta in the top 10, but the three made up the most entertaining stable the Knockouts Division has ever seen. And no one has held Knockout gold more times than Angelina Love.
The Toronto native has had six runs with the title, and once held the Knockouts Tag Team Championship with Winter. But still, she could have been used a lot better.
Love spent a couple years in WWE developmental, but was let go. Shortly after, TNA picked her up and she changed her in-ring name from Angel Williams to Angelina Love, and began teaming up with Velvet Sky. They formed The Beautiful People, and were perhaps the most entertaining women in wrestling for some time. Unfortunately, it ended too soon as visa issues led to Love being released.
A far less talented Lacey Von Erich took her place in the group, and by the the time Love was ready to return to work, the group had lost a lot of steam. Still, her rejoining could have helped ignite them again, but instead it was a swerve. She was cast as a face who began feuding with her former stable mates. It was a terrible move, and her career never recovered from it.
Love was far better as a Mean Girls type character than she was a traditional babyface. By the time The Beautiful People reformed in 2014, it lost everything that made them special in the first place.
While Love’s first couple years in the company were great (good enough to win PWI’s Woman of the Year Award in 2009 and 2010), the last few were sadly forgettable. So next time someone puts a paper bag over your head and calls you ugly, just think of as an homage to Angelina Love.
