10 Best Goldust Matches Ever
4. Goldust Vs Val Venis (Judgment Day 1998)
After it was revealed that Val Venis had been doing the underpants Charleston with Goldust’s estranged wife and former valet, Terri Runnels, the two were booked into a match at Judgment Day 1998.
The Goldust character had recently returned to TV after Dustin Runnels had been playing the role of a sanctimonious Preacher hell bent on cleaning up the WWF – think Right to Censor, but watered down considerably.
To take on Venis, Runnels reintroduced Goldust as a pseudo babyface seeking revenge, thus adding a tint of darkness and emotion that had been lacking from the character.
The match was given a surprising amount of time, and benefited from the underrated skills of two of the most recognizable members of the Attitude Era. Venis and Goldust wrestled a competitive contest with Runnels playing her part on the outside perfectly.
The two larger than life characters created great chemistry - and the love triangle angle helped propel this match into the realm of underrated gem.
