If you'd have been a betting man in 2002, you wouldn't have put much money down on Triple H having great chemistry with Jeff Hardy in 2008. But great chemistry is exactly what they had, and the two created solid gold whenever they were in the ring together.

There will always be a certain bitterness that Hardy didn't defeat Triple H clean to win the WWE Championship, but there we go. It's difficult to talk about Triple H without some fort of bitterness, so we'll take what we can get.

This match was all about Hardy trying to throw the Cerebral Assassin off his game, but also failing to come up with a Plan B himself. Hardy would resort to risk after risk despite Hunter having answers to them all.

This is how the match would end, as Hardy hit the Swanton Bomb and an entire generation of fans were about to see a huge moment. The Game was one step ahead, however, rolling Hardy into a crucifix pin for the win.

A truly fantastic, somewhat forgotten match.
