There are few wrestlers who have accomplished what Oscar Gutierrez, a.k.a. Rey Mysterio, Jr., have. Arguably the most popular cruiserweight of the modern era, Mysterio has been wowing audiences with his incredibly speed, wide array of impressive maneuvers, and giant-killer presentation since the early 1990s. Rey wrestled in ECW, WCW and in WWE, where he was one of the most exciting and memorable light heavyweights in history. With the exception of a brief period where he wrestled unmasked, and didnt really do much, Rey was an outstanding wrestler throughout his tenure in American promotions, and helped Lucha Libre reach a wider audience. And people absolutely loved watching him wrestle. His 2-out-of-3 Falls match with Juventud Guerrera at ECW Big Ass Extreme Bash was awarded a rare 5-Star rating by the Wrestling Observer, and he won the award for Best Flying Wrestler a record 6 times, both of which speak volumes of Reys outstanding Lucha Libre wrestling style. As Reys in-ring career winds down, most people will remember him as arguably the most exciting small wrestler in recent memory. His matches in WCWs cruiserweight division were among some of the best in that promotions history, and the 619 remains a favorite wrestling move for many a wrestling fan. Though his WWE career didnt end on a high note, Reys athleticism and impressive Lucha Libre wrestling style make him a guaranteed future WWE Hall of Fame Inductee. Considering how much attention he has brought to that style of wrestling, and how much he has sacrificed to perform to such high standards, he certainly deserves it.
