10 Best Matches AEW Still Haven't Booked

9. Blood & Guts

That Blood & Guts match graphic stings to look at.

It is a cruel window from this warped parallel universe into the one we should have lived through, before biological disaster struck. And, when even the mundanity of the old modern life feels wonderful, a dream gimmick match built for months - that you just knew AEW were going to nail in its claret-drenched glory - is too painful to think about. Cody's grasp of the core emotion and the brutality, fused with the Elite's athletic invention, meant this was all but certain to reach the ***** level.

The Elite Vs. Inner Circle war is over, and instead concluded via the hilarious and vital levity that was Stadium Stampede. The Elite are no more, the Inner Circle an upper midcard concern closer to the end than the beginning.

But Blood & Guts will happen someday, and in some other incarnation. AEW's stable-based narrative framework allows for such a match, which one suspects has been reserved to welcome us all back to normality, far away as it may seem.

The Dark Order, the Nightmare Family, a reunited Elite, the teased Four Horsemen stable, or the stables yet to form - Hangman Page's natural place is with the Best Friends, in the most wholesome of happy endings - AEW has the personnel and the deft booking manoeuvres to arrive at it.

But when?
