10 Best Matches AEW Still Haven't Booked

3. Cody Vs. Kenny Omega

To underscore just how meticulously AEW arranges its moving parts, so that wrestlers don't arbitrarily work multi-mans or some sh*t to ruin the lustre of their first-time meeting in the promotion, Cody and Kenny Omega were miles and miles away from one another in storylines even before Cody's hiatus. Despite joining forces in those wild, early Dynamite brawls, they've not even teamed together in AEW.

Cody Vs. Omega has forever felt feisty, and Cody alluded to as much on the first locked-down Dynamite from Daily's Place.

This relationship, one that never feels as close to the one shared by Kenny and the Bucks, made for fantastically heated and totally convincing angle-driven storytelling in New Japan. The matches weren't worked within the style that generated the same degree of fervour as what became known as the Kenny Omega "epic," but what's tantalising about a reboot of sorts in AEW is that style plays much better in this promotion. Cody, and he's great in this mode, would be tremendous value in pointing out to Kenny that, in terms of star aura, things have rather changed since 2018.

Ideal back-pocket stuff that might even let spill what precisely went on with the Nightmare Collective, if it takes something of a shoot turn.
