6. Jeff Cobb Vs. Will Ospreay (NJPW/ROH G1 Supercard)

The G1 Supercard proper kicked off with a perfect shot of adrenaline, as Jeff Cobb bet his ROH Television Championship against Will Ospreay's NEVER Openweight strap in the night's first title vs. title contest.

This was straight-up superhero sh*t. Cobb, who might be the strongest wrestler in the sport, tossed Ospreay around like an empty tracksuit (h/t WhatCulture's Adam Nicholas). His indomitable power game formed the bulk of his offence, while Ospreay's prodigious athleticism saw him adopt a gameplan that was one part evasion, one part speed, and another part blunt force. Such is 'The Assassin' in 2019: far from a one-dimensional flyer, he's out to prove he can go blow-for-blow with guys like Big Jeff.

Here's the thing: he can't. Yet. Taken down in a match resembling the Battle of New York from the first Avengers film, Will's transition to heavyweight was halted when Cobb put him away with an earth-shaking top rope Tour of the Islands. Jeff's blend of power and agility (highlighted by a 260lb standing Shooting Star Press) was too much for him. Ospreay will recover and grow stronger, though he can rest safe in the knowledge that he popped the hell out of Madison Square Garden.
