Ronda Rousey was a personality tailor-made for pro-wrestling, but few would've predicted how quickly the former Olympian would transition from Octagon to Squared Circle.

After becoming the first American to win a medal in Judo, Rousey made her MMA debut in 2011, with her aggressive style, good looks and brash persona making her a pop culture phenomenon.

Rousey's MMA tenure saw her become one of the sport's most dominant fighters, including defences against Miesha Tate, Cat Zingano and Olympic silver medalist Sara McMann. Of Rousey's 12 career wins, 11 came by first round stoppage, and her achievements were formally recognised when she became the first woman inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

Rousey had long been a fan of pro-wrestling dating back to her childhood, so when her MMA career wound down it was no surprise when she made her WWE debut at the 2018 Royal Rumble.

Rousey quickly answered her skeptics with a series of high-level performances well above her experience level. Her debut match partnering Kurt Angle against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon was hailed as one of the highlights of WrestleMania 34, and it wasn't long before the company gave her the Raw Women's title at SummerSlam.

Rousey became a central figure in WWE’s women’s revolution, fronting the company’s first all-female pay-per-view and later becoming the first woman to headline WrestleMania alongside Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair.

Rousey has taken a break from wrestling to start a family, but has stated the door remains open for her to return in the future. After her fantastic freshman year we certainly hope she takes it.
