10 Best Moments In AEW History

8. Britt Baker Gets Caked In Blood

Sting Revolution

AEW’s women’s division improved considerably throughout 2024, despite a sense of parity not really being achieved. Prior to this, it was mostly a sporadic collection of moments - the best of which was Thunder Rosa Vs. Dr. Britt Baker’s seminal Lights Out match.

The programme throughout was tinged with an elusive, captivating hatred - as it turned out, this wasn’t merely excellent work - but it was the March 2 match that will linger, forever, in the memory.

An ultra-violent war, incorporating familiar genre staples - tacks, ladder spots, table wreckages - it was elevated by how nasty, gruesome and attritional it was. In order to better apply a Lockjaw attempt, Baker, putting over that rare, undying will to win, had to roll through the tacks and puncture her own flesh.

Almost everybody has bled in AEW, at one point or another. Baker’s crimson mask was the best of the lot; she looked like she had endured more than one circle of hell.

Rosa actually won the match, but it belongs to Baker - her gutsy individual performance was a blue moon of modern wrestling violence, far more unsettling than exciting.
