Let's get it out the way early - New Japan Pro Wrestling is currently in the middle of one of the all-time great years in professional wrestling history. The number one wrestling promotion in Japan is now a clear number two on the international scene. 2017 has seen NJPW grow and grow and grow. This is a thrilling time to be a fan of Shin Nihon Puroresu.

The company has exploded in popularity on the back of some truly incredible in-ring action. Wrestle Kingdom 11 got things off to the hottest of starts on January 4, and the foot has not lifted from the accelerator since. Pretty much every major NJPW show in 2017 has featured an instant classic.

The wrestling on show in NJPW is the best in the world right now, so singling out 10 matches to stand tall above the rest is no easy task. Kazuchika Okada, Kenny Omega, Tomohiro Ishii and Tetsuya Naito have all had five or more matches that could feature on such a list, and that is without mentioning the KUSHIDA/Hiromu Takahashi rivalry.

All this, and the G1 Climax has only just begun. This is a wonderful time to be a fan of professional wrestling.
