10 Best Non-WWE Wrestlers Of 2018 (So Far)

3. WALTER

There's nothing flashy about what global standout WALTER does between the ropes, yet there's no finer big man on the planet.

Chops, suplexes, and basic submission holds are his base, and that's the beauty of his work. He is living, breathing proof that you don't need a showy arsenal to be great. When WALTER chops an opponent, it's like being struck by a mortar blast, and most opponents are lucky to leave without a bloodied chest (check what he did to Pierre Carl Ouellet in April). His rear naked choke is a death sentence, his suplexes beautiful, and his aura unshakeable. Though his appearance is unassuming at first glance, nobody else projects such fear and menace through their work, and if he were born in a different era, WALTER would've made a killing selling Madison Square Garden as a perfect foreign heel foil for Bruno Sammartino.

At this stage, WALTER effectively guarantees a ****+ match. January's PROGRESS clash with Timothy Thatcher is as realistic a portrayal of violence as you'll ever see in wrestling, but bouts with Zack Sabre Jr and Ilja Dragunov are just as impressive.

With this Austrian bruiser, the decision is simple: get on the bandwagon, or get run over.
