10 Best Opponents For John Cena At WWE WrestleMania 33

1. CM Punk

Punk Cena
WWE

With the title here being “best” and not “most realistic”, we kind of have to go with Punk. It's still within some realm of possibility. Sure, Cena vs. Conor McGregor would be a much bigger draw, but that has a 0% chance of happening. Punk vs. Cena must at least have a...1 to 3% chance of going down.

Despite the relatively brief nature of their feud, Punk may be the best opponent Cena has ever had. Their lifestyle clashes, and opposing in-ring styles somehow matched perfectly in the ring and the two put on a few of the best matches of this generation. One more round at WrestleMania 33, would be a fantastic way spark things back up.

With Punk almost for sure out of UFC, he may realize that he misses the spotlight. His passion for wrestling lasted decades, and it’s hard to imagine that it’s gone forever. Perhaps WWE reaching out to him and offering him the money he used to make for an entire year for one match could entice him to swallow his pride and lace up the boots once again. Besides, the company needs to sell a ton of tickets, and Punk is the man for that job.

Of course, this is incredibly unlikely to go down, but it would be an absolute blast to see the crowd’s reaction to it. Hopefully Punk will come back to WWE someday, and if it were to happen within the next couple years, there would be few bigger opportunities than another showdown with Cena at Mania.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
