10 Best Pre-WWE Daniel Bryan Matches

2. VS Nigel McGuinness (RoH's Unified)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59sRFA6KqC4 Wrestling crowds in the United Kingdom are quite notorious for being loud, as well as for being the type of fans who will chant what they want towards who they want, no matter what a promotion is trying to do. When you throw in a wrestler from the United Kingdom, as is the case here with Nigel McGuinness (aka Desmond Wolfe from TNA), they get even louder. At the time, this was the biggest match in RoH history, pitting their World Champion (Danielson) against their Pure Wrestling Champion (McGuinness) in a title unification bout. The fact that it was the company's first trip outside the United States only made things bigger, and the crowd treats it like every bit of the "big match" that it is and deserves. To show just how important the match was, and how both men had to step their game up because of it, there's a spot where both men are on the outside of the ring, standing on opposite ends of a steel ring post. Danielson grabs McGuinness' arms and pulls him, causing Nigel to slam his head up against the post. Not a post covered in thick padding, mind you. Then, Danielson does it again... and again... and again. Nigel's forehead was busted wide open, and you could watch it open up and get worse with each time he smashed against the unforgiving steel. If you're someone who dislikes the extra trauma (unprotected chair shots, diving headbutts, and other things that they do when they don't have to) that pro wrestlers put themselves through, this spot will make you cringe. It's almost as if Nigel asked for a concussion, and then went out of his way to try and get one. If you're looking for a molten hot crowd that pretty much would not stop cheering and chanting for the entire match, this is for you. If you're looking for both competitors to cross over into desperation mode because of the high stakes at hand, this is for you. If you're looking for a rough and tumble, physical match, this is for you.
