10 Best Retirement Matches In WWE History
2. Cactus Jack Vs. Triple H (No Way Out 2000)
Few wrestlers have sacrificed more for the business than Mick Foley, particularly during his WWE run. Whether competing as Cactus Jack, Dude Love, Mankind, or under his real name, Foley has never been shy of putting his body on the line for the sake of telling the best possible story. It’s part of the reason why he remains so beloved in the industry, and he has been utterly selfless in putting young, up and coming heels over throughout his career.
Triple H’s career went through the roof as a result of his feud with Foley. This was the match that really put him over the top. The duo had engaged in a violent, bloody Street Fight at the 2000 Royal Rumble, but No Way Out took things to the next level. They met inside Hell In A Cell, and with Foley’s career on the line, the stakes had never been higher.
Much like their Street Fight, Cactus spent most of the match beating the hell out of The Game, but wound up on the receiving end of the biggest spots. The biggest moment came towards the end, when Triple H reversed Cactus’ attempted piledriver and backdropped him through the cell roof, sending him crashing through the surface of the ring.
Foley was somehow able to stand up afterwards, but a Pedigree soon put him away. The match still ranks as one of the strongest HIAC bouts that WWE have ever produced, and while Foley returned to action just a few months later, it stands as one of the best “career” matches in WWE history.
