10 Best Shane McMahon Matches Of All Time

3. Vs. Test - SummerSlam 1999

Shane McMahon is by no means a great wrestler. Heck, for the majority of his in-ring career you couldn't even truly label him as being a good one. But professional wrestling isn't all about arm bars and inside cradles, as story and crowd response take up just as much importance depending on the match. Shane McMahon was able to get a good to great match out of Test, of all people, one that the crowd truly ate up, an achievement that should not be sniffed at. The story going into the match was that Test was dating Stephanie McMahon and Shane felt she was selling herself short, so to speak. I clearly remember being really into this angle at the time and all involved did a great job with it. Eventually, it came down to a 'Love Her or Leave Her' match at SummerSlam in 1999, which obviously came with no disqualifications as per most of Shane's matches. The Mean Street Posse get involved early on, but Test was able to remove them from the equation and bring it down to just him and Shane. The crowd were going absolutely mental for everything, giving the impression that Test could and would be a major star. This was his first big PPV showcase, so he had to shine. Luckily, the green guy and the non-wrestler really nailed it. Test pulled out the victory and celebrated with Stephanie after the match, the ending to what is genuinely an underrated classic from the Attitude Era.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
