Sport: Boxing Gimmick: Former Golden Gloves Winner Turned Wrestler Marc Mero was actually a successfull amateur boxer, and a former Golden Gloves winner. He started his career in WCW as "Johnny B. Badd," and was signed by the WWE in 1996. After a short stint as "Wildman Marc Mero," he later embraced his boxing heritage turned into "Marvelous Marc Mero." Mero had a decent career in the WWE, including winning the Intercontinental Championship, though his career was overshadowed by his wife, one of the original divas, Sable. Whenever Mero came out with his then wife, she would receive more of an ovation than him, which eventually drove him mad. Mero became abusive, and would try to hide his wife from the fans, which then made Sable rebel and show off even more to the audience. This actually culminated into a feud between the two. He pinned his wife at the 1998 Over The Edge PPV after pretending to let her win, he rolled her up and scored the 1-2-3. After this Sable left the company. Without his valet, the person the fans actually cared about, he would remain in semi-obscurity, until he left the company in 1999.
