10 Best Surprise Entrants In Royal Rumble History

6. Sheamus - 2014

The return of Sheamus to the 2014 Royal Rumble ranking this highly on this list may leave some of you scratching your heads but one must look no further than the fact that, in his first in-ring work in months, the Celtic Warrior battled for nearly a half-hour, setting the stage for the rest of his year. Sheamus has long been one of the underappreciated workhorses of World Wrestling Entertainment. That he was able to come back, shake off any ring rust he may have had the moment he stepped between the ropes, and never look out of place or shape, is a testament to the former heavyweight champion's work ethic. He was one of the backbones of the contest for the duration of his stay, and was only eliminated when Roman Reigns dumped him late in the bout. The second-to-last Superstar sent packing, Sheamus picked up exactly where he left off, delivering performances that fly under the radar by the majority but are appreciated by those who respect his hard work and dedication to his craft. While injury would again shorten his year, Sheamus would spend 2014 as one of the company's most consistent performers.
