10 Best Surprise Entrants In Royal Rumble History

4. Mick Foley - 2004

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdWaBgyC9Qw The rivalry between the brash, young, cocky and confident Randy Orton and hardcore legend Mick Foley began in June 2003, when the third-generation star punted Foley down a flight of stairs, just moments after the former WWE champion had his career and contributions to the industry celebrated inside Madison Square Garden. Six months later, he walked out of a match with Orton on Raw, then stood by and allowed the so-called "Legend Killer" to spit in his face. It was a defining moment in the rivalry, one that would fuel everything that came after it. One of the moments born of that night in December was Foley's surprise entrance in the 2004 Royal Rumble. Orton had entered the contest at No. 2 and spent the majority of the early portion battling it out with Chris Benoit. With Benoit pairing off with Kurt Angle, Orton stood by and watched as the clock ticked down to the 21st entrant. But no one appeared. Then, cameras shot backstage as Raw GM Steve Austin checked on an unconscious Test. Suddenly, the familiar sound of screeching tires filled the arena and Mick Foley hit the ring. Wasting little time, he attacked Orton, then eliminated both the IC champion and himself from the match before continuing his assault outside the squared circle. Like Edge after him, Foley's return served as the next chapter in a story. That story, when all was said and done, was not only suitably epic but also served as the launching pad for Orton.
