10 Best Survivor Series Elimination Matches EVER - According To Dave Meltzer

8. The Body Donnas Vs The Underdogs (1995, ***3/4)

Roman Reigns Shane McMahon
WWE

A fabulous exhibition of everything WWE was still doing very well indeed in the mid-1990s, this 1995 opener let performers abandoned tired gimmicks and simply be the phenomenal wrestlers they all individually were.

The match threatened to be overwhelmed by a go-home show heel turn by the 123 Kid that afforded him a spot on The Body Donnas in place of Jean-Pierre Lafitte, but endless sequences of exhilarating action in front of a red hot Washington crowd.

Kid was in fine form as a newly-minted villain, antagonising an incensed Razor Ramon after a turn to the dark side via Ted Dibiase's money, but subverted his typical babyface offence with a heel twist not unlike Sami Zayn's recent subtle ammendments.

Elsewhere, Tom Prichard, Louie 'Rad Radford' Spicolli, Chris 'Skip' Candido, Hakushi and especially Marty Jannetty all reminded a commentating Vince McMahon exactly why he'd hired them in the first place. The Chairman was audibly thrilled from his ringside at the feast of high octane action that completely eclipsed anything a rapidly encroaching WCW was able to promote at the time.

The final five minutes in particular were utterly sublime. Battling a numerical disadvantage, the game Jannetty eliminates Skip with a beautiful top rope powerbomb before succumbing to the a mix of Kid's lightning quick offence and Sid-centric interference. It highlighted two masters of their craft, and brought their unlikely 1993 Survivor Series collective victory heartbreakingly full circle.
