If you'd have told me at the start of this year that Baron Corbin was going to be one of the best things happening in wrestling right now, I'd have said there was more chance of CM Punk returning to WWE, shows you what I know.
Nevertheless, Corbin was the standout performer in this year's King Of The Ring tournament and deservedly emerged as King Corbin following a thrilling final against Chad Gable. Whilst some may have picked Corbin to win from the outset as he appeared the most obvious WWE choice, Baron merited the crown by the tournament's conclusion by beating The Miz, putting on a clinic with Cedric Alexander and overcoming a triple threat featuring Ricochet & Samoa Joe en route to his coronation.
Against all odds, considering previous KOTR winners like Sheamus & Wade Barrett, Corbin makes the King gimmick work. It's the final piece of the jigsaw he's been missing since shaving his head, changing his gear, and tweaking his in-ring style.
King Corbin managed to get Chad Gable over in defeat, has already been announced as a member of Team Flair for Crown Jewel alongside Randy Orton, and even made a success of his throne collapsing on this week's Monday Night Raw.
