10 Best Things The Internet Has Done With WWE Raw (14 Sept)

Featuring AJ Lee, Super Mario, and a 1996 episode of Nitro. Not at the same time.

This week's Raw was dominated by two major stories: Sting's first ever Raw match, and Charlotte's attempt to prevent Nikki Bella from becoming the longest reigning Divas Champion in history. Most online reactions circled around these two events, but - as always - a great deal of mirth was enjoyed at the expense of almost everything on the show. At many stages this week, it seemed as though the WWE were openly attempting to provoke an online reaction, whether positive, negative, or utterly mocking. Triple H broke into a scarily Vince McMahon-esque dance, the Miz invited the Wyatt Family onto his talk show, and several matches ended in controversial circumstances. The sight of John Cena winning a match is usually enough to send the Twittersphere into a frenzy, but two in one night? It's a wonder the internet didn't explode. From eye-popping gifs to passive-aggressive cheap shots (one from within the WWE locker room itself!), here are the ten best things the internet has done with this week's "season premiere" of Monday Night Raw.

10. Happy Season Premiere, Everyone!

It's no secret that Vince McMahon is intimidated by the NFL - especially the first Monday Night Football of each season - but rather than accept the inevitable ratings hit and focus on producing a quality show, the WWE instead seemed compelled to make this week's Raw another 'season premiere'. It's a term which simply doesn't work in conjunction with Raw - the show is put on weekly with no break in between "seasons" - and it made even less sense when Triple H inevitably came out to talk up the "premiere" as a special event. He and Steph cut a lacklustre opening promo in which they hyped the upcoming matches in a characteristically long-winded fashion. Then they danced with the New Day, which was admittedly awesome.
