10 Best Times Wrestlers Faked Life-Changing Injuries

Triple H Rattlesnake Bite Face
WWE

Jim Ross was the one who coined the nickname 'Cerebral Assassin' for Triple H. He did so to sell the cruel intellect possessed by one of WWE's top stars, and it also sounded pretty cool too. In 1999, this angle was the kind of super-smart deception that JR's impassioned announcing spoke of.

It was crafty as f*ck.

On the 14 October '99 SmackDown, Triple H called Vince McMahon to the ring and told him he'd personally hand the WWE Title over to Steve Austin. Days earlier, on Raw, Austin had locked Trips in a room with a deadly rattlesnake - that serpent apparently bit Triple H on the face and caused some serious disfigurement.

The beauty of this angle is that Austin didn't seem to give a damn despite Trips' pleas. Compassion or not though, he was booked to let his guard down, and that left the door open for Hunter to ambush him. Oh, and the "bite" was just good make up.

It was OTT, but this was so well written.
