10 Best Times Wrestlers Faked Life-Changing Injuries

9. Linda McMahon

This could be a tricky one.

Strictly speaking, the actual "injury" WWE talked about for Linda McMahon in 2001 wasn't physical. Well, kinda' (she was confined to a wheelchair, after all), but it was more of a mental thing - she'd been put in a drug-induced state by Vince, and was still reeling from the shock of Vinnie's request for a divorce.

In typical pro wrestling fashion, the company failed to specify exactly which magical meds kept Linda in such a perma-sedate state. She just sort of sat there and passively watched as her hubby did everything from play tonsil hockey with Trish Stratus to throw his weight around like fans had come to expect from WWE's top despot.

Come WrestleMania X-Seven though, Linda revealed that the whole thing was a plan all along. She stood up from her chair, booted Vince in the plums and helped her son Shane put the McMahon patriarch in his place. Was Linda faking for months? Did they forget to give her a dose that Sunday? Who cares. This was top TV despite barely making sense.
