10 Best Times Wrestlers Faked Life-Changing Injuries

8. Jerry Lawler

Curse those little ol' ladies who were so eager to make the next bingo game that they pulled out on Jerry Lawler's car and caused a pile up. In the ensuring wreckage, the 'King' was hauled from his vehicle and suffered a horrific leg injury that meant he wouldn't be able to wrestle Bret Hart at SummerSlam 1993.

It was a royal flush for those plans...right down the toilet.

Of course, as he's go on to do regularly when Raw's colour man in 2019, Lawler was talking complete and utter nonsense. Nobody could prove it in storyline though, so his appointed court jester Doink The Clown had to wrestle Bret in his place. The result was a surprisingly solid effort that ended with more great heel work.

Jerry ambushed Hart from behind with his crutch, then tried to weasel his way out of Jack Tunney's less-than-charismatic decree that he had to wrestle after all. That little old lady who caused the accident must've been Tunney's aunt - it's the only explanation.
