They just don't make 'em like they used to.

The Wild Samoan characters, played by Afa and Sika Anoa'i, were known as feral savages whose only real form of verbal communication was that of grunts and growls. So, their manager Captain Lou Albano did most of the talking for them.

However, when Hulk Hogan and The Wild Samoans were pulled over by the cops in New Jersey and Hogan's newly purchased handgun fell out of his glove box, Albano was nowhere to be seen. If you were caught with an unregistered firearm in New Jersey at this time there was a mandatory one-year jail sentence to be served and thus the trio were marched out of the vehicle, before quickly being handcuffed.

Hogan wasn't the universally known superstar he is today at this point and pleaded with Afa and Sika to explain what had happened. But, despite being fluent in English, the pair had never spoken a word of it on TV and refused to do so in this instance as they didn't want to kill the illusion.

The three all went to prison, before eventually the cops must've gotten to the bottom of what had actually happened.

Kayfabe must be protected, after all. Even if it means getting sent to the slammer for your art.
