10 Best TNA X Division Champions Ever

1. AJ Styles

Who else? When it comes to TNA and things that were good about it back in the day, AJ Styles and the X Division are going to be the two things sitting at the top of the list. AJ was the very first X Division Champion, overcoming Jerry Lynn, Psicosis, and Low-Ki at the second weekly TNA PPV to win the championship. He would go on to win the belt six times in total (joint second highest), with his reigns covering a total of 272 days.

AJ was the babyface cornerstone of the X Division for a long time, much in the same way that Rey Mysterio anchored the good guy side of WWE's Cruiserweight division at the same time. Men such as Petey Williams wouldn't have been able to get over as they did in the division without AJ to play off.

As mentioned already, it was his rivalry with Christopher Daniels and Samoa Joe in 2005 that really elevated the division, and AJ was the man that came out on top of the greatest match in company history at Unbreakable 2005. Styles won his final X Division Championship in 2006, but 10 years later is still regarded as the pioneer of the entire thing.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
