10 Best Ways AEW Can Book Sting
What can you do in a wrestling ring when you can't bump?
Sting's shock debut in AEW has sent the internet into overdrive, as every wrestling fan in the world, young or old, wants to share their theories on The Stinger's role within the company.
The debut is certainly a landscape changing one within the walls of AEW, but it's also quite a puzzling one. He has signed a multi-year deal with the promotion, which means that he is sticking around for a while. Plus, both he and the group have stated that he wasn't signed to be just another face behind the scenes; he intends to be in front of fans on a weekly basis.
While this seems like any wrestling fan's wildest dream come true, we all know that Sting was unfortunately retired due to a wayward buckle bomb from Seth Rollins. The man has stated that he literally can't take a bump on that neck or it could have some serious real-life consequences. So the real question is: What in the world is AEW going to do with Sting?
Yes, we all want to see Sting get back in the ring and tussle with some of the world's best. I mean Sting vs. Kenny Omega anyone? And of course, that might happen following a doctor's clearance, but for now, we need to look for happy alternatives.
10. Darby Allin's Manager
When Darby Allin hit the scene a few years ago, people were quick to make comparisons between himself and Sting. Fans claimed that Allin must have been the crazy love child of Jeff Hardy and the Stinger, given the way he moved, spoke, and performed within the squared circle. Because of this, it was only appropriate that Sting debuted within AEW, by staring down his long lost son and acknowledging his existence.
However, while there are many similarities between the pair, we are in no way suggesting that AEW should go the Kurt Angle and Jason Jordan route and have a father and son story.
The All Elite company have made it almost a fully-fledged policy to take care of their veterans by pairing them with young stars and have them both as their manager and mentor. Jake Roberts has been great with Lance Archer, as has Tully Blanchard with Shawn Spears and FTR. So if Sting can't meet Darby in a one-on-one contest, then let's have the next best thing and have The Icon come on board as Darby's manager. Not only would it help Allin's growing supernatural presence on screen, but it would also help him immensely off-screen, as Sting would be able to impart a wealth of wrestling knowledge onto the young star. It really seems like both the simplest and the safest option going forward.
