Defeat: At WrestleMania 2000, beaming ex-Olympian Kurt Angle lost both his Intercontinental and European Titles to Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho respectively. The kicker was that the 'Eurocontinental' Champ hadn't been pinned for either fall. Would this signal Kurt's slide down the WWF pecking order?

Recovery: Would it heck.

Angle continued to prove his worth to the company by becoming King Of The Ring in June. Then, he entered the World Title picture, feuded with Triple H over Stephanie McMahon and won the belt from The Rock at October's No Mercy. The second half of Kurt's 2000 was an absolute stormer.

After his 'Mania 2000 misery, Angle pretty much became a federation headliner for good up until leaving WWE in 2006. His debut year was one of the best ever despite the fact he lost two mid-card straps on the biggest show there is.
