Defeat: Randy Savage lost to The Ultimate Warrior at 'Mania VII in what was billed as a 'Retirement Match'. Naturally for pro wrestling, this turned out to be hype and nothing else; Savage was back in the ring by July 1991, but what impact would losing to Warrior have on his legacy and relationship with fans?

Recovery: Sod all, apparently.

Randy reunited with Miss. Elizabeth as tears tumbled down faces in the stands. He'd turned from heel to babyface in a few short minutes, and fans were willing to forgive 'Macho' for everything just to see him happy again with Liz. After that, Savage went from strength to strength.

He followed-up on a flashy wedding angle at SummerSlam with one of the hottest rivalries ever against Jake Roberts. Then, Randy became WWF Champion all over again by beating Ric Flair at 'Mania VIII. His legacy healed up pretty swiftly, and he continued on as fed furniture until 1994's jump to WCW.
