10 Best World Title Matches In WWE Royal Rumble History
8. Kevin Owens Vs. Roman Reigns (2017)
Ah, the days of Kevin Owens as a main eventer. Over far too soon.
Owens and Reigns were embroiled in a long-running feud for KO's Universal Championship in late 2016/early 2017. The addition of Owens' best friend Chris Jericho added an extra wrinkle to the match, especially when he took the United States Championship from Reigns in the lead-up to this match.
Reigns and Owens battled it out in a no disqualification match and made perfect use of that stipulation. Tables were broken, brass knuckles were used and Owens took one of the scariest looking bumps in recent WWE history, when he fell backwards from the top rope through a stack of chairs.
All the while, Jericho was suspended above the ring in a shark cage, partially to add tension to the match, but mainly to sell a toy set.
The match eventually ended with Braun Strowman costing Reigns the belt, but a screwy finish still didn't stop this match from being awesome. Owens and Reigns worked incredibly well together, especially with no rules, and Strowman's interference helped further a storyline between him and Reigns that would continue on and off for the next year and a half.
No one can ever doubt Roman Reigns' ability in the ring and Kevin Owens is one of the finest talents of this generation. It's hardly surprising that this match went as well as it did.
