Over more than three decades, WrestleMania has become the most legendary wrestling supershow of all time. Fans and wrestlers alike recognise it as the grandest stage in the sport and the place where careers have been made.

As such, some of the most memorable moments - ones that turned stars into superstars - are synonymous with the event. Simply saying the name "WrestleMania" conjures up images of these incredible scenes.

At WrestleMania XII, Shawn Michaels was scheduled to take on Bret Hart for the WWE Championship in an Iron Man match, but when "The Heartbreak Kid's" music played, he was nowhere to be found.

Instead, Michaels's mentor, Jose Lothario, emerged from the back, walked down the ramp, and got in the ring, then pointed up to the highest reaches of the Arrowhead Pond.

Shawn Michaels, decked all in white, stood atop the arena's rafters, tied to a zipcord. As the cheering fans began to realise what they were seeing, HBK stepped off the ledge and slowly slid down to the ground over thousands of cheering fans.

The image of Michaels suspended in midair has become one of the most replayed in WWE history, and for good reason - in the truest sense of the word, it was an amazing arrival.
