10 Best Wrestlers Who Never Held The WWE Title (And When They Should Have Won)
1. Dean Ambrose (Survivor Series 2015)
Dean Ambrose's career in WWE is still young, and it's possible (though admittedly improbable) that he'll one day reign as WWE Champion. Still, the company already missed the best opportunity to put the title on him, and one can argue they've been paying the price since.
When Seth Rollins vacated the WWE Championship due to a knee injury, the company set up a 16-man tournament to find a new titleholder. It was clear from the beginning that Ambrose and Reigns would meet in the finals, and sure enough, they met in the main event of the 2015 Survivor Series.
Reigns won cleanly and claimed the championship, but Sheamus immediately cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and beat Reigns for the belt.
The company could have come up with a much more elegant solution, one many fans were clamouring to see - Ambrose could have aligned with Triple H and The Authority, becoming a corporate champion and a roadblock for Reigns.
Ambrose would have been able to tackle a new role and new responsibilities, and programming would have been far more interesting.
Admittedly, it wouldn't have done much for Reigns's fan reactions, but that didn't turn out so well, anyway.
