10 Best Wrestling Documentaries Ever

8. The British Wrestler

The UK wrestling scene in 2017 is perhaps as strong as it's ever been. Certainly, at least, since the days of Giant Haystacks and Big Daddy (which are two names you probably shouldn't bring up in the company of the cast of ICW, who are determined to prove that British grappling isn't just a thing of the distant past).

Vice's 2012 documentary on life in the squared circle, a part of its ongoing Rule Britannia series, offers a glimpse into the hard-knock careers of various performers - chief among them Grado, whose unconventional path to the ring is chronicled in-depth - trying to make a name for themselves in the wonderfully eccentric world of underground British wrestling.

Significantly, this is also a look into the other side of wrestling, away from the glitz and glamour of the mainstream, where part-time wrestlers very often marry their unorthodox pass-time with a normal day-job, in the - often slim - hope that they will one day get their big, life-changing break.

The best moment? Probably when Grado reveals that he got stuck with his ring name after getting it tattooed on his arm on a drunken night during a lad's holiday in Magaluf (despite the fact that nobody actually called him that).
