10 Best Wrestling Feuds Of 2020

9. The Inner Circle Vs. The Elite

From Jon Moxley's MRSA infection in 2019 to Lance Archer contracting COVID-19 ahead of a World Title match earlier this year, much of AEW's short life has been about making the most of unfortunate situations. With The Inner Circle vs. The Elite, Tony Khan and co. were forced to pivot away from Blood and Guts just as the feud was peaking, deciding against running a WarGames-style bout in a sterile early-lockdown empty arena.

With the original stipulation shelved, AEW took a sharp left turn out of Daily's Place and into the TIAA Bank Field. Double Or Nothing's Stadium Stampede was the perfect match for May 2020. With the world riddled with anxiety and devoid of hope, it was a big, bombastic joy that breathed life back into a promotion that had struggled to adapt to the new normal, helping fans part with their worries for 34 minutes of fun.

The Elite vs. Inner Circle feud preceding the bout was fantastic. It brought Matt Hardy into the fold, saw Hangman Page really find his feet as the babyface group's black sheep, and was built on real, tangible hatred, the likes of which deserved Blood and Guts.

Fingers crossed AEW revisit that idea when crowds return.
