10 Best Wrestling Matches I've Seen Live
3. Brock Lesnar Vs. John Cena Vs. Seth Rollins - Royal Rumble 2015 (1/25/15)
In terms of match quality, 2015 was an amazing year for wrestling.
Promotions all over the world put on a host of classic matches, but the very best bout of the entire year was an unbelievable WWE brawl from what was otherwise an abysmal show.
John Cena defeated Randy Orton at Hell in a Cell 2014 to earn a title shot at seldom-seen WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, but in the intervening months, Authority member Seth Rollins got himself added to the bout.
Fans had seen Cena and Lesnar clash before, but Rollins was the wild card, and rumors that Lesnar would be leaving the company following a contract expiry threw the match's outcome into further doubt.
The bout was pure chaos, with Lesnar suplexing Cena and Rollins around the ring to start. They fought back in and out of the ring with finishing moves, but Brock was impossible to put away and the third man would always break up the pin.
Finally, Rollins laid Brock out on the announcers' table and crushed him with an elbow drop from the top rope, seemingly taking "The Beast" out of the match. Cena and Rollins fought by themselves for several minutes, but neither was able to score the win - even with J & J Security running interference for Rollins.
Rollins finally nailed Cena with a Phoenix Splash (using the move for the first time in WWE), but Lesnar returned to break up the cover. Rollins hit Lesnar with his Money in the Bank briefcase and went for the Curb Stomp, but "The Beast" caught him with an F5 for the win.
This Triple Threat title match was the wildest bout I've ever seen, live or on TV, and sitting in the seventh row behind the smashed announcers' table only made the carnage more evident.
This was more than three of the best doing their best - it was an expertly-crafted piece of demolition.
