It's a curious thing, this Roman Reigns Universal Title reign. For all the lavish critical acclaim thrown its way since last summer, it hasn't proven its worth as a needle-mover beyond the first few weeks, when outside excitement for the heel Head of the Table was at its highest. Generally, those tuning in love the content - but the content isn't convincing those who weren't already watching to tune in.

Fortunately, Reigns' in-ring body of work is stellar.

Though the unwanted melodrama of his early-reign talk-and-brawls threatened to spill into 2021 with the Kevin Owens feud, Roman is now excelling even his own 2016 vintage between the ropes. At WrestleMania, Reigns was every bit the dominant force of nature the discourse surrounding him purports him to be, even when his general presentation is more "chickensh*t heel" than "new Brock Lesnar."

The Daniel Bryan Triple Threat meme is a hoot, but the Mount Rushmore candidate's insertion livened up a bone-dry feud ahead of the event and ensured its genius on the night itself. Edge, too, blew away the cobwebs in his best performance since returning, though he and his fellow challenger were fated to be stacked up and pinned at the same time.

Even the inevitable Jey Uso interference spots were handled well, with the Right Hand Man wiped out early, letting the wrestlers wrestle.
