Honourable mentions will forever be vast with regards to pro wrestling end-of-year lists.

Death Triangle's PAC and Rey Fénix had an engaging start to the year, complete with a banger of a match vs. the Young Bucks, but there wasn't enough substance for a full inclusion. Similarly, SCU's Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian's program vs. the Bucks would have earned them a spot in the top ten had it been a quieter year.

In WWE, neither the New Day nor the Usos made the cut, with the latter coming across as fodder for Roman Reigns' rivals at times. Rey and Dominik Mysterio would have made the official list, too, had their success not been immediately followed by them barely being used.

Elsewhere, IMPACT Wrestling's Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson miss the cut. Their work in AEW made the IMPACT World Tag Team Titles feel worthless at times, the exact opposite of what you wish to achieve as representatives of a specific promotion. Over in Japan, a lack of real interest prevents any standout New Japan candidates.

Teams are ranked based on every aspect of their performance as a team; singles work will not be counted, but their quality of output (both in-ring and otherwise), presentation, believability, positioning, and effectiveness in getting over will be.

Ring Of Honor is not what it used to be. The Briscoes are arguably the last piece of that dying breed. There is no ROH without Jay and Mark Briscoe.

At Final Battle, the brothers usurped the OGK to win their record-shattering twelfth ROH World Tag Team Championships, before getting into a scuffle with AEW's FTR post-match. That match will presumably go down on AEW programming, perhaps as soon as AEW's inaugural Battle of the Belts special on 8 January, which ties in perfectly with the news of the duo being backstage at AEW Dynamite a few weeks back.

After the tumultuous year had by the illustrious tandem, this justified their inclusion. They've been a top-tier tag team for over a decade and despite their forever home being taken away, this shows no signs of slowing down.

Throughout the rest of the year, the work of the Briscoes has been generally well-received, with their recent capture of Game Changer Wrestling's doubles championships vs. EFFY and AJ Gray coming off the back of their legitimate shock arrival in the promotion.

At the time of their debut, ROH's hiatus hadn't been formally confirmed, making their appearance unimaginable. There was a boost in interest for the duo because of this, a boost that has stayed with them since.
