10 Best Wrestling Tag Teams Of 2021
1. The Young Bucks
There's an argument to be made that the Young Bucks enjoyed the greatest title reign of 2021, bar none.
Enjoying 302 days as the kingpins of AEW's doubles division, the brothers Jackson elevated the prestige of the championships with each defence, be it in critically-acclaimed Steel Cage matches with the Lucha Bros, legitimately nail-biting fights with SCU, or meaningless (but still enjoyable) bouts with the Varsity Blonds. They got, at the very least, a ★★★ match out of every challenging tandem.
Beyond their run as champions, though, the Bucks were elsewhere crucial storyline-wise. In Kenny Omega and Adam Page's immaculate story arc, Matt and Nick Jackson worked stupendously well. Their sly nods to the latter, moments before his triumphant victory at Full Gear, was some of the greatest storytelling your writer has ever seen. They understood the gravitas of the moment for their old friend, hence why they refrained from physically intervening.
They've nailed their characters to a tee, too. They're now perfect as the cocky tw*ts that made them indie darlings pre-AEW. They wrestle in expensive sneakers because they can afford expensive sneakers. It's such a subtle d*ck move that works so well for them.
The Young Bucks have perfected every aspect of professional wrestling. A generational tag team, without question.
