10 Best Wrestling Tournaments Ever

4. Survivor Series '98 (WWE)

Why it€™s #4: Deadly game was a rare attempt by WWE to hold an entire tournament in a single night but it pulled it off well with Survivor Series €™98. A tournament created to a crown a new WWE Champion after Vince McMahon €œfired€ WWE Champion, Steve Austin, to essentially vacate his championship. The bracket was busting with top Attitude Era stars such as Shamrock, Undertaker, Kane, The Rock, Mankind, X-Pac, Bossman and the former champion, Steve Austin. An incredible bracket supplemented with some great matches and a hot crowd made this tournament an easy pick for number four on this list. Best Match: Steve Austin vs. Mankind. Foley and Austin brawl with plenty of emotion in the semifinals of the tournament. Austin seems to gut out a victory until basically the entire McMahon family runs interference to give Mankind the victory. Karma would later bite Foley in the finals as he squared off against The Rock for the title. Winner and Aftermath: The Rock claims his first WWE World Title with plenty of help from the McMahon family who screwed over both Mankind and Steve Austin during the course of the tournament. Obviously, The Rock would have such a fantastic heel run that he would later move into the legendary babyface run that made him one of the greatest wrestlers in the WWE. The tournament was pure Attitude Era chaos and emotion in a nutshell and stands out as one of the highlights from arguably the greatest period in wrestling history.
