The first WWE pay-per-view following the Brand Extension, this was also the match that caused many to sit up and take notice of Edge as a potential singles star. After garnering little in the way of a reaction initially, it took a career-changing role in a tag team with onscreen brother Christian to re-start what would eventually become a Hall of Fame career.

Angle was also in a strange position at this point. His ability was without question, but the company wasn't convinced on him as a top guy yet. As such he worked primarily with the talent in the middle of the card, spending a couple of years giving us classics against talent such as Edge, Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit.

This match comes with the rather peculiar aura of the vastly-less experienced Angle working as the veteran, and it making total sense. It's a fast-paced back and forth match nonetheless, with Angle showcasing some of the timing that would lead to him becoming one of (if not the) the best wrestlers in the world.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
