This is the moment that earned Edge the nickname "The Ultimate Opportunist".

When Edge won the first ever Money in the Bank Ladder match at WrestleMania 21, fans did not know that "a guaranteed title opportunity, any time" truly meant "any time". That was, until 2006's New Year's Revolution when, following John Cena's triumphant title defense inside of the Elimination Chamber, out came the Chairman.

When he announced that the Rated-R Superstar was cashing in his MITB contract, the fans went into a frenzy of shock and awe. "How could he do this?" the children yelled frantically from their seats. "That's not what the MITB contract is for!"

Well, technically... yes, it is.

As was expected, Edge handily defeated Cena to win his first-ever WWE Championship. Though he lost the title a mere four weeks later, his run set the precedent for the thrilling unpredictability of the MITB contract and solidified his status as arguably the most dastardly bastard(ly) in the company for the latter half of the 2000s.
