10 Best WWE Championship Reigns Under 100 Days

4. Ivan Koloff, 1971 (21 Days)

Chris Jericho Undisputed Champion
WWE

If you thought the silence was deafening when The Undertaker's WrestleMania streak ended, you didn't hear the reaction to Ivan Koloff's title victory over Bruno Sammartino in 1971. Actually, you didn't hear it even if you did watch.

You could hear a pin drop in Madison Square Garden the night that The Russian Bear ended the almost-eight-year-long title reign of The Italian Strongman. Not long after the referee counted the shocking 1-2-3, the audience's silence turned to fervent derision, and Koloff had to rush out of the arena to avoid being attacked.

As mentioned in a previous entry, heels weren't allowed to have lengthy title runs back then, so he dropped the belt three weeks later to the heroic Pedro Morales. Much like other entries on this list, Koloff is here not as a "fighting champion," but because of the implications associated with his title victory.
