Some wrestlers were simply made for the main event. Santino Marella is not one of them. That’s no slight on him though, merely a reflection of his gimmick.

But nonetheless, in 2012, Santino somehow found himself with a spot in the World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber match. And as it transpired, he wasn’t just there to make up the numbers. Santino put in a truly valiant Chamber performance as he came oh so close to winning his maiden top-tier championship.

Having eliminated both Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett, it was Santino and the champ, Daniel Bryan, who would battle it out in the final two. And the Milan Miracle nearly became the Milwaukee Miracle, as Santino scored two near-falls before finally be forced to submit to the LeBell Lock.

But despite his defeat, the sheer emotion and suspense of Santino’s performance was enough to win over the hearts of millions and earn him a spot on this list.
