9. The Rock Vs Ken Shamrock Vs Mankind (Breakdown: In Your House)

A dud of a show was in need of a banger before a lacklustre main event and hugely unpopular conclusion sent the fans home f*cking raging, and it got it in this truly unappreciated gem between the three top candidates to tackle Stone Cold Steve Austin's supremacy during 'The Rattlesnake's 1998 peak.

The Rock had lost his Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam 1998, but he was going up the company's real ladder rather than the one he'd failed to successfully scale against Triple H. Deafening pops greeted his every move here, having unofficially turned babyface after the classic with Hunter, so much so that Mankind's super-sympathetic shtick was again sidelined as it had been with 'The Rattlesnake' months earlier. Ken Shamrock was going in the opposite direction to 'The Great One', channelling his rage in an environment closer to his UFC origins and against the two most popular stars in the company beyond the WWE Champion himself.

A case of more actually being more, the structure around them added danger and suspense, not least for a finish that saw 'The Most Electrifying Man In Sports Entertainment' smartly cover the 'World's Most Dangerous Man' right as Mankind blindly scaled the cage to escape.
