If Mr. Perfect passed the torch to the Hitman at SummerSlam '91, Bret took the torch to the very top of the mountain at SummerSlam '92.

In a main event that had never been done before in WWE history, the Intercontinental Championship headlined a WWE PPV when Bret Hart defended against The British Bulldog in London, England.

Unlike WrestleMania VI when the Intercontinental title was last on the line in the main event, the Federation Championship was not involved this time.

The Workhorse Title had the spotlight all to itself. It didn't disappoint either. The match helped draw over 80,000 fans to Wembley Stadium and is considered one of the greatest matches of all time.

Bret's conquests during his two Intercontinental title reigns include Mr. Perfect, Roddy Piper, Shawn Michaels, and more. Like the Ultimate Warrior several years before him and The Rock several years later, the Intercontinental Championship helped prepare The Hitman for a run at the top, as WWE Champion.

Due to the impressive nature of his title reigns, the quality of his title defenses, and the memorable moments of his many matches, Bret Hart takes the #2 spot as the greatest Intercontinental Champions of the 1990s.
