Proving themselves both evergreen in a devastatingly dire time for WWE's midcard, Chris Jericho and Rey Mysterio's 2009 Intercontinental Title storyline was anything other than a demotion. With a company in a state of flux below the protected pack at the top of the card, Jericho and Mysterio parked their egos to deliver some scintillating show-stealers. The Bash was their best.

'Y2J' had grabbed the headlines along with Mysterio's mask the prior month, expertly swiping the hood midway through the Champion's 619 attempt that ultimately cost him his Intercontinental gold. The rematch was subsequently booked as a 'Title Vs Mask' affair, affording both performers a deserved emotional crutch to aid them through a titanic final struggle.

The best match of the night underneath a chronic Triple H/Randy Orton 'Three Stages Of Hell' snoozer and middling Jeff Hardy/CM Punk World Title clash, the pair elevated themselves and the title beyond the status the ugly oval strap one last time, aping their own magnificent finish to bluff the audience awaiting a similar spectacle. Jericho again pilfered Mysterio's mask, but Rey had learned his lesson - a second identical one underneath the first completely threw his foe allowing for a match-winning 619/Drop The Dime combo.
