2. Lawrence Taylor vs. Bam Bam Bigelow - WrestleMania XI
The main event of the eleventh incarnation of WrestleMania featured NFL and New York Giants great Lawrence Taylor squaring off against the "Best from the East" Bam Bam Bigelow in one of the most hyped celebrity matches in WWE history. Public workouts in Times Square in New York City were held. Press conferences highlighted Taylor's well-known personality. Salt-N-Peppa performed prior to the hotly anticipated bout while stars from the world of pro football surrounding the squared circle in support of the Hall of Fame linebacker. After all the pomp and circumstance had reached its conclusion, however, it was up to LT to deliver. Deliver is exactly what he did. Proving that all of the time spent training with Hall of Famer Pat Patterson was not for naught, Taylor worked extremely well with Bigelow to deliver not only one of the best celebrity matches in WWE history but a contest that far exceeded expectations. Taylor excelled in selling Bigelow's considerable assault, then showed great resiliency in fighting back and delivering a flying forearm to score the improbable victory. It was his dedication to his in-ring performance, and the seriousness with which he approached it, that helped him excel.
